I found a post on Make the other day and was inspired. PVC can be dyed! Who’d a thunk it?

So I placed my order and not so patently waited for my dye. After a few trial and errors on PVC pipe I made this Tie Dye Cable.
And then a Scrapbook inspiration! I used my scrapbook punches to cut out shapes from Blue painter’s tape. Older and more used punches were not sharp enough to cut crisp shapes in the tape. When I was done I scrubbed it down with orange cleaner to get ride of the tape residue. It came out awesome! Think of the possibilities, Bats and pumpkins for Halloween lights, Candy cane cords for the X-mas tree!

Want to do this project yourself? Here is a list of supplies and the amount I paid for them after tax+shipping. Just follow the instructions on Make! When making the Tie Dye cord it is good to have an assistant closing the containers between colors in order to assure the dyes do not get darker as you go. The solvent resist gloves are not very solvent resistant, just ask my blue and orange husband hehehehe. I recommend wearing 2 pairs at a time.
